Merits Aurora 2 Hill Climber Scooter

The Aurora 2 Hill Climber is the most powerful scooter Merits makes. It can climb slopes of up to 12 degrees. That is steeper than most scooters manage, so if you have a steep driveway or live somewhere hilly, this is the model built for it.

It also travels further. A full charge gives you 40 to 50km, which is enough for a proper day out rather than a quick trip to the shops. The charger is a separate 8A unit and recharges the batteries faster than the smaller chargers fitted to most scooters.

The ride is comfortable on rough ground. Large 12 inch air-filled tyres and 130mm of clearance underneath help it get over bumps, kerb ramps and gravel. You can also adjust the suspension to suit how you like it to feel.

The handlebars are a loop shape, so you can control the speed with either your fingers or your thumb, whichever is easier for you. There is also a 12 volt socket within easy reach for charging a phone.

Two things help keep you safe. The scooter slows down on its own when you turn a corner, and there is a separate emergency brake as well as the standard brakes. The Aurora 2 meets the Australian and New Zealand safety standard for mobility scooters, AS/NZS 3695.2:2013. It carries riders up to 182kg, which is more than most scooters allow.
